The 180 degree rule
The 180 degree rule is a cinematography guideline. The basic guideline regarding on-screen spatial relationship between two characters or objects. The guideline states that two characters in a scene should maintain the same left or right relationship to each other. There is a invisible line, if the camera crosses it, it is called 'crossing the line'. The invisible line stops the camera from crossing the axis, if it does, it is no longer the 180 degree rule. This is known as crossing the line or jumping the line.
The image shows the axis between the two characters. The 180 degree green arc is where the camera can be placed. if the camera moves over to the red arc, it is no longer the 180 degree rule. If cutting from the green arc to the red arc the characters need to switch places on the screen from left to right or right to left, otherwise it is no longer the 180 degree rule.
If the line is crossed it becomes very similar to shot reverse shot, which is another camera technique.

Shot Reverse Shot
Shot Reverse Shot is a camera technique used in several films. It is a technique that shows two to three characters having a conversation. It is called Shot Reverse Shot because the cameras are placed over the shoulder of each character. Shot Reverse Shot is where a character is shown looking at another character and then the other character is shown looking back at the first character.
This is a list of my top 5 favourite films and TV series.
My favourite film out of all of the Harry Potter films has to be the third one, The Prisoner of Azkaban. Although it was a very difficult decision to make. I like the Harry Potter films, specifically The Prisoner of Azkaban because I have grown up with watching them and reading the books. They appeal to me because I love the action, mystery and storylines the films have to them. I like how you watch the three main characters Harry, Hermione and Ron grow up throughout the films. I would never get bored of watching Harry Potter films, especially this one.
Stranger Things is a TV series on Netflix. The series is full of mystery
and that is why I enjoy it. Each episode is very different and exciting. I loved this series because it was very addictive and hard to not keep watching episodes. Most of the actors are children, and they are very good at the roles they play. The series also includes a monster like creature which makes it very engaging and interesting. I am very excited for the next series to come out next year.

3. Orphan Black
Orphan Black is also a TV series on Netflix. This is one of my favourite shows because the main character Tatiana Maslany, plays most of the characters but is dressed differently to resemble each clone. The series is about a corporation that makes clones. There is several clones in the series and after a seasons ends a new clone usually is in the next season. It is very dark and mysterious. It is also very addictive and engaging. I would highly recommend this series to anyone.
4. The Great British Bake Off
This Is a TV series that is produced by the BBC. It has been on TV for a long time and gets millions of views each week when a new episode comes out on a Wednesday. It is about a group of bakers who each week have a new task. The task changes each week and can vary from cakes to biscuits to bread. each week one baker is awarded star baker and one is sent home. Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry are the judges and Mel and Sue are the hosts. I love this as it is something you can watch with the whole family. It is such a great show and is very funny.
5. Storage Hunters
Storage Hunters is an America reality show that has been
enhanced for your entertainment. It is based all over America. I like storage hunters because it is funny and good to watch. I enjoy watching it with my dad because we both find it funny. There are many people in the show bidding for things in the storage bins. It is interesting to watch because they can get great things such as cars. They can also get rubbish such as trash.
AS Media Blog
Welcome to my AS media blog.
I am taking media because I enjoy watching TV and films. Particularly the Harry Potter films. My Favourite film is either the first film, The Philosophers Stone. Or the third film, The Prisoner of Azkaban. I love these films, because I have grown up with them. I also like the mystery and action in them.
For my other two A-levels I have taken Photography and Art textiles. I also really enjoy these subjects. I think they all go well together and compliment each other. Outside of school I enjoy music and my dog
This will help me in the future because Media is relevant as it is all around us, and everyone is involved with it and using it in their day to day lives. I am hoping to have a future with film and media as I thoroughly enjoy it and am very interested in it. I enjoy sleeping my dog and I dislike spiders and the dark.
. I am hoping to do well in this course and get a good grade because I enjoy it and want to carry on with it in my future. I would like to go to university and do a course on something like film or media.
