Animatic

We created an animatic to help us with our filming. We took pictures of each section of our mood board. Then we put them in to Premiere Pro with the soundtrack we decided to use in our film opening. We also timed each picture to come up at a specific time to match when each shot changes.

Preliminary Task
Our preliminary task is to create a short two minute film using the shot reverse shot technique, the 180 degree rule and some speech. We are doing this in pairs. Our idea was to use lots of different camera angles to make the start of the film more exciting.
Sion Roe Premiere Pro lesson

Inline image 1This was helpful for me as I will be doing some of the editing for our main task. This will include putting a title in and other text throughout the film.

Time Line and Story Board

This is a timeline that myself and Jack have created for our main task. On the timeline, we have written our idea and what each shot will consist of. A timeline helps us to understand where the titles should come in and what order they should appear in. I find that it makes them easier to read and makes planning a lot clearer.

Our story board shows us how many shots we have and what order they go in, they also show us exactly what happens in each shot. This makes the film opening easier to film as it is clear and understandable.

Student film Evaluation - The Missing

Camera Angles
I liked how the camera angles changed from steady to shaky when the circumstance changed. This meant you could tell who had been kidnapped. The angles let us see who the main characters are and what their role is in the film.

Editing
The editing is past paced, this is representing rush and desperation. The editing is very good as the whole film is smooth and seamless.

Sound
There is no speaking, there is just a song playing in the background, this is called non diegetic sound.

Mise-en-scene
The clothing the two characters are wearing are very different rom each other. The investigator Is wearing smart black clothes, this show he is authority. The person who has been kidnaped is wearing old dirty clothes this shows that he is lower down.

My role

For our final film, we have had to decide between our group members what roles we are going to take on. Although we will all help with everything, we have decided specific roles that we will concentrate on.
I am doing the filming, and a bit of sound and lighting. For this role I will have to make sure that the sound quality is good and all the sound is regular I also have to make sure that the lighting is well lit and right for our genre, which is horror. I will have to make sure that it is lit as low lighting. For filming,  I will have to make sure that the film runs smooth and that each shot runs into each other seamlessly. I have to make sure that the shots are steady or hand held when appropriate. This will help us reach a higher grade.
Task

Our task is to create the opening sequence for a fictional film that is two minutes long.
For this task we have until February for the whole film to be filmed and edited. In this timeframe we also have time to plan our film, which is very important if we want out film to look professional. The equipment we will be using is a filming camera, a tripod, lighting and a microphone.
Our film is worth sixty per cent of our final mark. 60 marks are for construction, 20 are for research and planning and a further 20 are for the evaluation.

Analysis of the opening scene of Blade

The opening seems to start off normally as there are two people sitting in a car. Once they get into the building with the body's in plastic bags, it gets strange. You know something strange is going to happen because how some of the characters are dresses. Once they are inside and at the party the character is dancing around when he feels something drip onto his head. He tastes and smells it to only realise it is blood. By the time he looks up it is to late, and the bloodbath has began. It shows us a sign saying blood bath, and we now know why it is called that.

Preliminary Task

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCyRGX_33nM

This is Jacques Khaliq and I's First Media task. We shot a two minute clip about a torture scene. We included shot reverse shot, match on action and the 180 degree rule. We broke the 180 degree rule in our task, recognizing this will prevent it happening in our main task.  I think our film wasn't very good. This is because the film was out of focus, the sound was not very regular and the lighting wasn't very good, because it was too dark. I think that our story line was good and exciting. To improve the filming, we could of made sure that all the footage was in focus by watching each shot back on the camera after we had shot it. To improve on the sound we should of made sure everyone was quite and if there was background sound, edit it out. We should of also used our microphone sounds as it would of been louder and the sound in each shot would of been more similar. To improve The lightning we could have used actually lighting instead of using a torch. we could of also filmed it when it was lighter. This would of helped with the camera being in focus. Our actors were also not the best as they were a rushed choice. We should of planned our task and thought about it more before filming it. Overall our film was awful.
